Kampmann hired both his son Gus and his nephews Charles and Joseph Boelhauwe (Gus’s cousins) to help out, hoping they would eventually succeed him in the running of the business. Gus dropped in and out, adding and dissolving partnerships, and eventually opted out entirely, leaving it to Charles G. Boelhauwe, who continued to operate the company under his own name for many years (see fig. 64–65).19
